Launching our first-ever RoundPier Script Writing Competition

We continue with RP Writing Contests series and introducing new Script Writing Competition! Get ready to create your own script, based on a theme, for a play/drama or a short film. Unleash your creativity, bring in your ideas, and show us the amazing writer you are. We encourage any writing/creativity clubs to join.

This will be running from mid-December to early-March on the RoundPier platform. And yes, there are prizes! Currently, the total Prize Pool is set at $300 for the top teams, plus RP swag such as stickers. The winning team will also get an opportunity to publish their script on RP platform and all teams will get feedback from professional scriptwriters and authors.

Logistics of the Competition (please read carefully):

1. There is no registration fee to enter the competition.

2. Teams must be from 2+ people and ideally to come from the same school. Each school can have more than one team.

3. All team members must be registered on RoundPier (join and build your personal profile if you aren’t a member yet) and complete the sign up form.

4. You can be based anywhere in the world.

5. If you do not have a team, we can help you find one! When filling out the signup form, just let us know that you do not have a team.

6. Once signed up a team must create its own private RP Group: go to Groups and Club — -> Create New Private Group. The title of the Group should say [Name of School]’s RP Script Writing Team. Example: “Washington High School RP Script Writing Team” (if there is more than one team from your school add Team 1, Team 2 etc.). If you aren’t from the same school create a unique name for your team i.e. “Creative Writers RP Script Writing Team”. One team member must create a group and can then invite others. RoundPier account will join your group to provide additional guidance and answer any questions.

7. Mentors! We advise teams to have a mentor. You can indicate if you have a mentor in mind, or if you need one, in the sign-up form.

8. There will be a number professional script-writers present as judges and mentors!

NOTE: If there is no way you can find a group from your school, it is okay to form a team with other students. Please answer the sign-up form accordingly. However, we strongly encourage you to form a team based on your school.

Rules for the Script:

1. Every script must incorporate from the following picture. This picture can be used in any way you want, can be interpreted in any way, and can be in any capacity you wish (small or big). When you submit your script, you will have the opportunity to talk about how you used this picture:

2. The script must be a maximum of 3000 words.

3. The script should follow a basic script structure (there are different versions for this, you see an example in the following link)

4. The script should include a basic story structure as well, with an introduction, plot, conclusion, etc. Make sure that there is a clear story emerging from the script that is easy to understand. Consider adding a narrator character if needed.

5. Be creative. Be yourself. Be engaged. Make sure to have fun and explore new ideas and thoughts!
